Chart: Google is Activating 1.3 Million Android Devices. Daily.

In July, Google activated 900,000 Android devices daily. That’s a respectable number, but how about a few million instead? Google chairman Eric Schmidt recently revealed that the company is now activating 1.3 million Android devices on a daily basis.

If you’re not suitably impressed, here’s some context: Apple sold ~46.4 million iOS devices last quarter, which Business Insider points out is equivalent to 515,500 per day.

Of course, it’s not a perfect comparison because sales are not the same as activations, but Google still takes the lead on this score by a sizable margin.

CNBC’s Jon Fortt points out that Android has become huge in China as a low-cost alternative to the iPhone, which could explain where all these new Android activations are coming from.
