The Cocktail Diaries: Arizona Sunset
Arizona is a magical place chock-full of unusual plants, unique landscapes, and breathtaking views. From the peaks of Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, through the red rocks of Sedona, down to the crystal blue falls at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, our state is beautiful and deserves to be celebrated. As a team with some seriously deep Arizona pride, we’re always delighted when we meet another crew that shares our enchantment of the Grand Canyon State. Here’s where Tempe Public Market Café (TPMC) comes in.
This casual neighborhood hangout oozes Arizona pride. From the Arizona-shaped special board adorning the patio wall, to the menu built around locally grown ingredients and the massive patio perfect for watching an Arizona sunset, you get those AZ-loving vibes the second you walk through the door.
True to form, when we partnered with the TPMC team for this month’s Cocktail Diaries, they whipped up a recipe that pays homage to a sight we look forward to every twilight; an Arizona sunset.
The Arizona Sunset cocktail is a poetic ode to the 48th state; specifically crafted to resemble a scenic drive through the desert. The grapefruit juice mimics the brilliant pinks that light up the sky while the prickly pear and aloe vera notes transport you to that desert scene. The final touch: fresh thyme. The structure of the fresh spring mirrors the unique Joshua tree and enhances the natural botanical elements of the drink. Needless to say, just one sip will give you the urge to plan a road trip through this great state of ours.
The creativity and innovation TPMC puts into their cocktail menu translates into every aspect of their food and concept. Focused on fresh cuisine created with local and organic seasonal ingredients you will find breakfast, lunch, and dinner items that nourish your body and excite your palate. And don’t forget to stop by their dessert case packed full of freshly made cookies, pastries, cake, macarons, and other delicious treats.
Additionally, TPMC is working to build community through food. They proudly support locals by sourcing their ingredients from the AZ farming community, serve Tucson-based coffee, sell local-made products, and host a weekly Community Night dinner. The Community Dinner is open to the public and gives neighbors the opportunity to delight in a three-course meal at an affordable price. Currently, the dinners are offered Sunday and Monday nights after 5 p.m. Just don’t forget to pair your delicious dinner with a cocktail, especially since TPMC is the only place you can drink an Arizona Sunset, while watching an Arizona sunset.
The Arizona Sunset cocktail will be on special for a limited run this summer only at Tempe Public Market Café and Phoenix Public Market Café. Be sure to tell them Lucid sent you. Cheers to summer, Arizona!
